The house of Vilar is set in a small hamlet on the crest of a hill overlooking a valley, and into the distance the Palace of Monforte De Lemos and the mountains.
The house consists of three bedrooms,(two doubles and one twin - there is also a double sofa bed in the second small lounge) bathroom, large lounge,diner, kitchen with original wood burning stove and a second small lounge.
Outside there are two enclosed terraces. The upper terrace is shaded by vines and has a natural stone patio.The lower terrace has an open fronted barn which contains the original bread oven used in supplying bread to the village in days gone by. To the side of the lower terrace is a path leading to a natural spring where you can collect fresh chilled drinking water.The nearest town to Vilar is Ferreria de Panton. While this is a relatively small town it does have two well stocked supermarkets, a number of banks and cash machines, a pharmacy, a petrol station and a bakery.

Only 40mins away from Vilar are the Canyons of the rivers Sil and Mino .They are canyons of outstanding beauty with vineyards of the Ribeira Sacra. Lose yourself in the peace and tranquillity of these stunning natural landmarks.Set on the banks of the River Xabrega are a line of six old water mills. Enjoy a walk along the shady footpath running by and over the river and see the ruins of the original mills and some that have been semi restored.

There are local walks accessible by foot from the house and others which are only a short drive from the house. There are details ofwalk the routes and maps provided in the house available for guests to use. You can spend days on the sandy river beach at Playa Fluvial at Cova which is a 30 minute drive from Vila. Club Fluvial in Monforte de Lemos (20 mins drive), has 3 open air swimming pools.
